I've used the ice cream maker a handful of times since getting it five months ago and so far have been thrilled with the results. For me this has had quite a few benefits. First it means I don't have to use precious freezer space or plan ahead to make ice cream. It also means that I no longer face the problem I had with my Kitchenaid where the bowl would warm up and unfreeze before the ice cream had a chance to set up. It also means that in theory you can make multiple batches in a row. However, for me that seems to require a second bowl as I find it a little tricky to remove and clean the bowl until it has properly warmed up. Most importantly, the texture of the ice cream it creates is fantastic! It's the closest I've seen to ice cream made by commercial machines. With my previous ice cream maker it would never get thicker than soft serve, but sometimes I've found it gets so thick that it stops the machine. Thus, I can serve it without having to refrigerate it first since it gets wonderfully hard. I also have found that this cleans up relatively easy. My only complaint is that this is quite heavy so it is a bit hard to lug it out every time I want to make ice cream, but it is definitely worth it for the quality. Overall, this machine is great.
